What to Expect

Complete paperwork:
On your first visit you can either bring in the completed forms above or come in 15 minutes early to fill them out at the clinic. We will also make a copy of your insurance card and verify your chiropractic benefits for you.

Consultation:
Once the paperwork has been completed, Dr. Chad will spend some time getting to know you and the reason for your visit. He will then determine if chiropractic care is right for you. This is a free consultation.

History and examination:
If it is determined that chiropractic care is right for you, we’ll do a thorough history, which involves multiple questions related to your condition, and perform a chiropractic examination. The goal of the examination is to determine the root cause of your problem. The examination typically involves postural assessment, range of motion, strength testing, neurological testing, and orthopedic testing. The first visit typically takes about 1 hour.

X-Rays:
Based on your history and the results of the examination a set of x-rays may be recommended. These x-rays are used to rule out more serious conditions, check joint structure and alignment, and help aid the doctor in developing a proper treatment plan for you.

Treatment:
Chiropractic adjustments, muscle work such as stretching, or additional therapies are performed on the first appointment unless more serious conditions need to be ruled out. The doctor may decide to wait until the second visit for treatment based on the findings of the examination or x-rays.

Your second visit:
The second visit typically occurs one to two days after your first visit. On the second visit, Dr. Chad will address any questions and explain your diagnosis. This is called the review of findings and explains the cause of your condition. We always want you to have a clear understanding of your problem(s) and the therapies that will help make you feel — and stay — well. A treatment plan, goals of care, and the approximate amount of time it will take for you to heal will also be presented.  We’ll also discuss your insurance coverage and any out of pocket expenses you may be liable for.

Additional appointments:
Treatment typically consists of specific chiropractic adjustments to restore function of your joints, stretching, deep tissue work, and occasionally electric muscle stimulation therapy. At-home stretching and strengthening exercises will also be recommended. Stress management, lifestyle changes, postural awareness, ergonomics, and nutrition are also topics that will be discussed on an individual basis.
